Six Leadership Essentials
1. Communication: substance and style is appropriate and effective for the medium and audience (Eph. 4:15; James 3:1; Col 3:16)
2. Courage: willing and capable to set things in motion through to completion despite the risk (1 Tim. 4:12; 1 Peter 3:14)
3. Character: moral authority to bring people and resources together to advance an initiative (Matt. 25:14-30; Prov. 4:23)
4. Chemistry: holding personal and staff teamwork dynamics in constructive tension (Acts 2:28; Php. 2:3-4)
5. Commitment: engages task or role whole-heartedly (Col. 3:23)
6. Calling: accurate self-awareness for responding to God’s leading (Rom. 12:3-8)
Frequently asked questions
What are the requirements?
You need to have graduated from high school for at least one year and either be in college or working a part-time job that can accommodate your Step Forward employment.
Are apprentices compensated?
Yes, an apprentice is a paid staff member. The 4-hour weekly cohort is part of your paid work week.
What is the weekly time commitment?
You will be working on site at CFC for 16-20 hrs/wk for 11 months, and involved in school or an additional part-time job.
When does it begin and end?
The next cohort begins June 17, 2026 and ends May 12, 2027.
Can I choose my areas of focus?
The goal is for you to thrive in your areas of interest and strengths while also assigning work that will be stretching.
Is there housing?
Housing is not provided. However, we have options that you can explore.
Do I need to be a member of Community Fellowship Church?
You do not need to be a member but you will need to be an active weekly participant in the weekend gatherings for the duration of the apprenticeship.
Will my schedule work well with Step Forward?
There is some flexibility to customize parts of your schedule to accommodate your other work or college schedule.

The earlier you apply, the more likely a listed position is still open. There is not an application deadline. However, once the apprenticeships are filled the next openings will be for next year’s apprenticeships.
