The Lost Son and His Road Back Home

This weekend we will be looking at probably the best known and most beloved story that Jesus told. From Luke 15 we see the story of “The Lost Son”, or “The Prodigal Son”. This is a very personal topic since we all know someone or someones who have wandered away from the Lord and ended up very far from “home”. They may be a friend or a neighbor. They may be your son or daughter or brother or sister. In fact, you may be the one who has wandered away. As we study versus’ 11-24 I want us to understand a couple of things. First, what is the heart of this father for his lost son? Second, what are the things that had to happen before this young man was ready to begin his road back home. May God give us faith to keep praying for those who are dear to Him but lost, and may we understand that God is always calling the prodigals back home.
