The Freedom in Knowing Jesus

We often hear the Christian life described as “knowing Jesus” but what does that really mean? Jesus Himself extends the invitation to intimately “abide in His love” and He describes life with Him as free, joyous, and purposeful. Why is it, then, that sometimes there seems to be a gap between what we read in Scripture about following Jesus (freedom, joy, and purpose) and what we may actually experience?
