We are always wondering about the future, and looking to solicit whatever help we can get. No different in our passage this week (we even get a talking donkey; sounds a bit like Shrek to me)!
The donkey’s owner, Balaam, was an oracle priest. I was surprised to find out that he shows up 59x in 8 books of the Bible: more than Mary or any apostle! Perhaps the “way of Balaam” (2 Peter 2:15) is something we should pay attention to.
