Numbers 25

4/29/23

Powerful things happen if you let an infant diaper marinate in a hot car. Everything looks fine from the outside but on the inside – Dang! Offensive. The greatest threat to closeness with God is not from the outside but from the inside. Moving through the book of Numbers, it’s as if Israel has a bulletproof glass dome over them. God provides food, water, and protection and in return, they fill the dome with their offensive behavior. Israel’s failure comes to a fever pitch in chapter 25 when idolatry becomes an existential threat to their identity.
