Have you ever felt intimidated by other Christians? You see and hear about their Christianity and then you compare yourself and think “I can never be that spiritual!”
Paul wanted to encourage new believers in Colossae, with the idea that they are complete in
Christ. They didn’t have to add more rituals and laws to their lives to become more spiritual.
In fact, Paul uses the phrase “puffed up …by …sensuous mind” (v. 18b) to point out how self-serving legalism really is.
