Where is God taking us?
Intentionally develop young Christian leaders so they have clarity of calling, compelling church leadership ability, and are integrating all aspects of their life under Christ. These young qualified leaders become impactful members, future hires, elders, and ministry entrepreneurs in CFC and beyond.
What are we doing?
Step Forward is a paid year-long immersive Christian leadership development program designed to equip interns through instruction, collaboration, mentoring, and a variety of leadership opportunities.
Why are we doing it?
- To entrust leadership to a younger generation: Healthy churches intentionally and appropriately pass the keys of leadership to equipped and integrous young adults.
- To Integrate life in Christ: Participants will constantly engage their head, heart, and hands so they can effectively lead from a foundation of a cohesive life through Christ.
- To foster clarity of calling: Participants will be able to whole-heartedly devote themselves to a more focused career path with a Kingdom priority that is grounded in real-world experience, training and guidance.
How are we doing it?
- Cohort of 4-6 young adult interns led by a program Director
- Full-time 12 month program running July-June
- Work approximately 20 hours/wk for CFC and 20 hours/wk beyond CFC.
- Leadership training through challenging assignments, ministry collaboration, and instructive feedback
- Multiple “bosses” (marketplace job, CFC job, program Director) will generate complex dynamics requiring high-level self-awareness and communication
When are we successful?
- Articulate vocational calling, including current and visionary role with the local church
- Knows and clearly articulates strengths, gifting, personality, and passions along with weaknesses, vulnerabilities, and areas needing support
- Evidence of personally owning CFC’s 5 metrics of a disciple
- A younger presence, and an active role of interns serving and recruiting, within the community services team
- Directors have strategic goals for their interns that will improve their areas of ministry and will free them to try new things
- Interns’ stories are shared with the congregation throughout the year and sets the stage for more CFC young adults to share their stories of how God is at work in their lives as an encouragement to the congregation
- Vocational leadership placement in an area of skill and interest
